Citadel
I was lying with my face on the ground. Is that what I should call it? "ground"? It was not hard, nor even grainy. More like a soft fabric of silk which isn't jaggy or wrinkled anywhere, spread as far as eyes could see. White fumes around me reminded me of a morning mist at the lakes of my village. It felt as if I was floating on clouds.
I got up to my feet. I walked. I didn't know the place, the direction, the purpose. Where the HELL AM I?
"Heaven" a voice came from my behind, "Or something like that. I don't understand what you people down there believe " . A middle-aged man wearing a tight shirt with white pants was looking in a notebook as I stared at him curiously.
"Where am I? What is this pla-" "Stop, stop, stop! So you are one of them ,huh? This isn't my first time dealing with someone clueless who bombards me with a bunch of questions." he spoke before even i could say anything. " Come on, follow me!". He walked past me towards an enormous castle, which i am sure wasn't there last time i looked.
"You are entering the Citadel of Cries," he said fluently as we walked past the lush green garden full of plants and water fountains. "You will be given your keys back at the counter , Sir. Your room has been cleaned and furbished since your last time."
The place resembled a hotel lounge. There were people chatting, playing, and even arguing. They came from various age groups, ethnic backgrounds, and spoke different languages. My head was busting. What was this place? What kind of heaven is it? Is this even heaven at all?
"Here is your keys sir! May you have a wonderful day!!" as the man was going away , I shouted like a baby cry," WHAT IS THIS PLACE? Why don't you tell me straight?".
He glanced downward briefly while others around me stared, then spoke, "We've been instructed not to share any details with you. It could be overwhelming for you. Our professional guide will provide you with all the necessary information. Dealing with the Obliviants is already too challenging, so please avoid causing a scene here. Just relax in your room, sir!"
I stepped back and looked embarrassingly at my keys. I took the elevator and went to my room.
